Customs Hands Over Suspect With 11.6Kg Substance Believed To Be Hard Drugs To NDLEA

The Federal Capital Territory ( FCT) Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service led by the Customs Area Controller, Comptroller Suleiman Bomoi, has handed over one Lawrence Chijioke with Eleven (11) large and six (6) small packages of substances, suspected to be hard drugs to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).

The Suspect was said to have departed the Murtala Muhammed International Airport Lagos, on the 10th of July 2022 and returned to the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, where he was picked up by the Operatives of the Nigeria Customs Service after due examination. It was also reported that the suspect came into Nigeria from Adis Ababa, Ethiopia on Ethiopia Airline.

In the Spirit of interagency collaboration, Comptroller Suleiman Bomoi handed over the Suspect and the illegal substance to Mr Kabir Sani, Commander NDLEA, NAIA, Abuja.

According to him, this will avail the Agency ample opportunity to carry out further investigation and possible prosecution.

He also praised the working synergy between the Nigeria Customs Service and the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency NDLEA.

While warning would be smugglers of illicit substances of the dangers inherent in that line of business, he acknowledged the preparedness of officers and men of the command in enforcing the laws on absolutely prohibited items and other fiscal policies of government.
