Position Summary
We are seeking a qualified and passionate Nutrition Officer to support the planning, implementation, and monitoring of nutrition-focused interventions for OVC and their caregivers within our communities across Ikot Ekpene, Essien Udim, Ini, Ikono, Obot Akara and Ibiono Ibom LGAs in Akwa Ibom State, in the Centre for Clinical Care and Clinical Research Nigeria (CCCRN), US/DOS Transforming Health and Resilience through Vibrant Empowerment (THRIVE)  project.  The THRIVE project is a US/DOS five years funded project targeted at the UNAIDS 95-95-95 goals for case identification, enrolment to treatment, and retention in care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the planning and implementation of community-based nutrition activities for the OVC.
  • Conduct nutrition screening, household food security assessment, and referral for malnourished clients
  • Facilitate Infant and Young Child Nutrition (IYCN) and Maternal, Young Child Nutrition (MYCN) services
  • Lead food demonstrations and promote optimal dietary practices within the communities.
  • Strengthen linkage and referral systems for nutrition rehabilitation and care
  • Train and mentor community case workers and health workers on nutrition interventions
  • Ensure accurate data collection, documentation, and reporting
  • Collaborate with health facilities, community structures, and stakeholders towards resource mobilization and care for the OVC.
  • Monitor program performance and contribute to quality improvement initiatives

Requirements

  • HND/Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, Public Health, or related field
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in nutrition programming, preferably in NGO or donor-funded projects
  • Strong knowledge of community nutrition and health systems
  • Experience working with community-based nutrition interventions (CMAM, IYCN, HIV-related nutrition support)
  • Good communication, reporting, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work across multiple LGAs and adapt to field conditions
